Good Morning!!!
Hubby deployed on the 14th. 363 days left and counting!!! This first day was easier than the last deployment’s. Cousin B went with me to drop him off and stayed for about an hour when we got back. Then I was able to meet up with my older brother, Butthead, and his girls at the mall. It was so awesome!!! Even though Hubby and I were texting the whole time, it was nice not to miss him as much (yes, even though it was only a few hours!!! it was more of the thought of 365 days of no Hubby, than actually missing him). Butthead, the girls, and I ate crepes, shopped, and then went to Color Me Mine. The girls LOVED it!!! It was so much fun!!! TE even said it was better than Disneyland!!!! YAY ME!!!
After leaving them I stopped by the in-laws for a little and then drove home. Coming home was the hard part. Seeing his sandals next to the bed, his beer in the fridge. I think to myself, “eh, I will leave it there for him” then a thought pops in, “it cannot stay there for a year!!!!” Instant sadness. And that brings me to the real reason why I am writing this post. Ninja and Bear, our pups, were on the balcony this morning and they heard a car pull up. Ninja was so excited!!! She started barking, whining, jumping around. I knew what she was doing because she always acts like that when Hubby comes home. Bear started getting excited as well. I opened our bedroom door and out they ran; down the hall, not even waiting at the top of the stairs for me like they always do. (they were SOOOOOOO excited!!!) Down the stairs and to the front door and window. When I finally got downstairs they were both standing against the window sill whining at Hubby’s truck in the driveway. I felt so bad for them. Ninja kept looking back at me with this expression of, “HURRY, He’s coming!!!!” and then it turned into, “WHERE IS HE?!?” I explained that Daddy wasn’t home and they just landed on their feet and walked away, right back up the stairs. Ninja snickered at me on her way down the hallway to the bedroom. Ninja is now sleeping on Hubby’s pillow while bear is sleeping on my legs. I love them so.
Yesterday was my one moping day, but moments like the previous one will come up often. I am so thankful I have my pups with me, friends and family close this time around, and am able to email and IM with my hubby from time to time.
Deployments suck, but he is doing something important, amazing, and good; plus, absences makes the heart grow fonder. I cannot wait until he is home again.
I <3 Bear and Ninja!!!
My Husband has been nudging me to start this blog, which I think is a great idea; however, starting it is a whole other ballgame!!! Since I am laid up today with a pulled nerve I figured it would be smart of me to at least start somewhere.
My Hubby is in the Marines and we just bought a house in So. Cali a few months ag. We love it. Being new homeowners has had its share of surprises and learning experiences. After having a flood downstairs only 3 days post move in, to finding all of our fruit trees having brown rot, we are now hopefully getting a handle on everything. This is what had prompted the Garden and DIY area of the blog. I am so excited to finally owning land and being able to grow my own veggies, fruit, and herbs!!! (I had started one about 2 years ago but they all drowned, a story for another time
)
Before buying our home, we were stationed in Hawaii. I absolutely LOVED it. Hubby not so much. Hawaii was were we met our friends who introduced us to the Paleo lifestyle in September 2011. I say lifestyle because it more than temporary and it has become our way of life. After tasting grass fed beef, or organic fruit, I do not know how you could go back. I follow a stricter version of it compared to Hubby who likes to cheat on it a lot. And to be honest, I miss the way I think things taste but my taste buds have changed and I cannot eat an extra large pizza all by myself anymore. (Trust me, I was super proud of this!!!) Fake cheese tastes fake, the chemical and pesticides ruin the amazing flavor of fruits and veggies and I can taste all of it now. Hubby’s family has started to which to it. His Aunt, Uncle and Gma enjoy it. His Sister and her Fam Bam have started about 3 weeks ago. Many people experience weight loss switching to Paleo. I did the first 2 weeks and I maintained my 4lb weight loss. (Many people would say I didn’t have 4 lbs to loose, but I guess I did!!!) Hubby lost 15ish lbs. His Aunt, at last count, lost about 35lbs and is still going. It is not about weight loss though, it is about cleaning up your insides while helping the CSAs or meat shares, the environment and so much more. This is where the recipes come in. I follow a lot of Paleo blogs, have bought cookbooks and will bring you along on my journey of yumminess!!! I do not really make recipes, but I am great at following them or fixing them to my liking!!!
Click on the About Me tab if you wanna learn more, or just come back and follow my blog, because everything is related and I am sure you all will know more about me then even I intend!!!
